SeaCity enhanced with FP Plus
Prysmian’s FP Plus Enhanced cables have been installed at Southampton’s SeaCity Museum, a 3,252 sqm visitor attraction that celebrates the city’s historical relationship with the sea.
SeaCity Museum is expected to attract thousands of visitors every year and as a consequence, the fi re safety systems are of paramount importance.
With this in mind, FP Plus Enhanced cables have been used for the fi re alarm system and disabled refuge alarms throughout the attraction.
FP Plus complies with fi re alarm standard, BS 5839 enhanced grade and has received BASEC and LPCB approval. FP Plus Enhanced cables incorporates Prysmian’s unique Insudite, which greatly reduces the risk of third party damage.
Reavey & Son installed 5km of FP Plus. Tony McNeil, Senior Contracts Manager explains: “I have specifi ed Prysmian FP Plus on this occasion and also in the past as they are very cost effective and always meet the specifi cation. FP Plus Enhanced cables are the only cables on the market that can compare to the traditional MICC cable.”
Tony continues, “By specifying Prysmian FP we are able speed up the process due to the ease of installation. FP Plus Enhanced cables come with insudite making the cables more dressable and productive to work with.”
Southampton’s Grade II Old Magistrate’s Court building is being transformed into the SeaCity Museum in time to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic. The scheme is part of Southampton’s Cultural Quarter expected to bring over 2000 jobs and an annual £2.1m visitor spend to the city.
At SeaCity’s grand opening on 10 April 2012, visitors saw two permanent exhibitions and a showcase of the history of the Titanic.
