About FP

Products and applications

The FP range of fire resistant cables is comprehensive and contains cables for most fire applications. Below there is a quick overview of the cable range with its typical applications. Click on links for further details.

Cables

FP100

FP100®

This is the fire resistant alternative to standard cable for use in metal conduits and trunking. It is the choice for upgrading existing conduit based lighting and fire alarm systems to current emergency specifications. FP100 may be used for emergency lighting, fire alarm circuits not requiring twisted pair and other essential services.

FP200

FP200 Gold®

Is a hard skin, dressable, easy to install and easy to terminate cable. The first to use Insudite for damage resistant cores and is the market leading fire resistant cable for standard application areas. It's the right choice for fire alarm, fire detection and emergency lighting circuits.

FP400

FP400®

A tough, armoured, fire resistant power cable for essential safety circuits associated with fire detection, fire alarm and emergency lighting. In particular for power supplies to safety systems. FP400 is the cable of choice for projects where only MICC had been approved.

FP600S

FP600S®

A stranded armour version ofthe original FP600 cable. FP600S offers the ultimate protection for emergency electrical services in large, complex or fire engineered buildings where only the highest performance is good enough.

FP Cable Accessories

In order to achieve the maximum fire performance potential of a cable it is important that the accessories used to terminate and support the cable meet the same test requirements. Prysmian design and manufacture a comprehensive range of glands, cleats and clips that meet this requirement.
AP Clips

AP Clips

The original FP fixing. Meets the fixing requirements of BS5839-1:2002 for fire resistant cables, due to their metal based design. AP clips are copper based and coated in an Afumex Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH®) coating. This coating is either red or white depending on the colour of cable being installed. AP clips securely fix single FP cables.

Firefix double clip

FP FirefixTM

Unique FP fixing system that allows FP cables to be installed up to 10 times faster than with AP clips and meets the fixing requirements of BS5839-1:2002 for fire resistant cables. FP Firefix are stainless steel coated with an Afumex Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSOH®) coating. The system uses gas nailing technology to fix the clip firmly into position into a range of construction materials including concrete, composite steel decking and block work. Available in Red or White to suit the cable FP Firefix is supplied as single or double cable clip allowing 1 or 2 cables to suit your installation.
Use with the Spit Pulsa 700E gas nailing tool as an alternative to traditional methods without time savings.

Nylon Cable Glands

An easy fit cable gland that is available in red or white to complement the cable, these glands offer the perfect solution to terminate fire resistant cables. These nylon glands can be used to terminate fire resistant cables into a fire resistant enclosure. Alternatively a fire resistant brass gland option should be used.

BICON Brass Cable Glands

BICON cable glands are synonymous with quality and ease of installation. For our FP400 and FP600 cable range we offer bespoke brass glands designed to fit the cables securely.  Choosing the right size cable glands is essential to ensure a secure, safe termination.

Cleats

For our robust armoured FP cables (FP400 & FP600S), we offer a choice of BICON cable cleats to ensure a secure fix to the wall, ladder or cable tray. These ranges of metallic cable cleats are specifically designed for these cables and cover the majority of installation scenarios.
